The strength of a healthcare system depends on the skills, competencies, values and availability of its workforce. A well-trained and competent laboratory personel ensures accurate and reliable results for use in prevention,
diagnosis, care and treatment of diseases.
Medical Laboratory Technology department opened in Mettu Health Science College in 2018 G.C. The department established in the behalf of filling the need of health facilities human power to achieve the SDG based on the OHB. The department
is well established and equipped with all necessary materials. Pre service laboratory training was started to fill human resource health sector. The training was demand based; competent trainees were assigned to health facility for
last five years. In coming future pre service laboratory continues training based market demand. In coming five year by 2030, we have planning to ugrade Medical Laboratory technician training to Medical Laboratory Technologist training
center.
